Insurtech NYC hosted its 5th event last night and it was one of the most successful to date!

Montoux, American Family Ventures, and sponsor Deloitte welcomed over 100 industry professionals in a downtown location on Wednesday, September 4, for an evening of networking, lively discussion, and featured speaker presentations. The event hosted three separate speakers, all from very different areas of the industry.

After introductions by Montoux’s Rob Partridge and AmFam’s Drew Aldrich, Cory Crosland, CEO of PolicyFly, took the stage to discuss digital transformation in policy administration in insurance. Cory discussed how the drive to create a new product for the Specialty P&C market inspired the idea for PolicyFly, a platform that provides specialty insurers an easy to use space for interacting with their agents.

Following Cory, Insurtech NYC was thrilled to welcome back Mark Purowitz, Senior Partner at Deloitte, who last spoke at ITNYC back in February’s event. Mark discussed the second wave of insurtech and its effects on the broader insurance industry. His presentation touched on the importance of insurers developing meaningful partnerships with insurtechs, rather than treating them as a single-point solution, and on the recent scrutiny insurers are facing from ratings agencies like AM Best, which now tracks how effective insurers actually are at innovating.

Rounding out the night was our final speaker, Jay Weintraub, CEO and Co-Founder of InsureTech Connect, the world’s largest event for insurers and innovators. Jay shared his unique perspective on how insurance innovation has evolved within the past decade, touching on the different ‘graduating classes’ of insurtechs as well as the massive involvement of corporate VCs in the insurtech market. As insurtech continues to mature, and investments continue to pour in, how will the relationships between brokers, carriers, and entrepreneurs change?

We personally can’t wait to attend InsureTech Connect from September 23-25 in Las Vegas to meet industry professionals from all over the world as well as attend world class presentations from innovation experts.

We hope everyone who attended the 5th Insurtech NYC enjoyed the networking, conversations, and presentations as much as we did. A massive thank you to all our fantastic speakers. We’re looking forward to seeing you next time!
